Busy week for golfers

Competitions at Matlock Golf Club commenced with the Ladies Silver Team beating Cavendish at home 5–0.

On Tuesday, the Ladies Section held their Open Trio Stableford, experiencing extremes in weather, including snow. The winning team with 74 points was Sue Wort (Chatsworth), Lyndsey Shaw (Chevin) and Doreen Andrews (Chatsworth).

On Wednesday, the Men’s Medal was played with 125 entrants. Winners were: Div 1 Keith Carl 73(6)67, Div 2 Ian Mills 74(10)64, Div 3 Andy Cameron 81(15)66, Div 4 Paul Birch 87(25)62, 55+ Stableford David Slack 35pts, Veterans medal Roy Hoskin 40 pts.

The Seniors Team also played at Chatsworth, with a 6–1 victory.

Thursday saw the Ladies Bronze Team playing away at Stanedge, narrowly losing 3–2. On the same day, the Men’s Vice Captain’s Team won 5–1 away at Bakewell.

On Saturday, the Captain’s Team played Chevin at home, also winning 5–1. The Div. 1 inter club foursomes team lost four down. In the Coronation Foursomes, Pamela Hedley and Jill Smith won and go though to the next round.

On Sunday, the club hosted the Derbyshire Union Golf Clubs Henriques and Leo Feeny Competitions. Congratulations to Matlock member Jamie Strutt who won the 36-hole Henriques Cup with a 1st round 65(5)60 and a 2nd round 70(5)65.
