DARLEY Bridge-based archery club Derwent Bowmen has been attracting new members from both Matlock and further afield around Derbyshire, in this its 50th anniversary year.
One of the ways that members of local clubs and groups can have an initial experience of archery is to book and attend one of the Have-A-Go sessions that the club, situated on Gold Close, is able to organise during each year.
Schools too have brought groups to enjoy archery at the shooting range.
A full two-hour session of archery is given to those attending.
Archery club members show each visitor how to follow safety rules, alongside gaining skills that date back many hundreds of years.
Then the session will finish with a ‘shoot-off’ between those attending.
Groups would be most welcome to book a session and see if this ancient English sport is for you.
Interested parties can contact the club chairman Christine Holroyd for more details and to book a Have-A-Go session on 07985 952168.
