Pre-season training for Matlock Water Polo Club resumed after the Christmas break this week, with the high attendance and workrate that is required ahead of an early start to what is an important campaign for the club.
Last Wednesday’s weigh-in was entered into with the correct spirit and left players with aspirations to be in the shape that is best for them to be able to perform well over the next few months.
Assistant coach Andy Massey was additionally impressed with Sunday’s turnout.
“20 were down for the land session and 25 for the water training. All worked very hard in what were well-constructed sessions.”
Wednesday night’s home friendly with Hucknall will be further practice and an indicator of progress. Tickets are available on the night (8pm start).
Sunday night’s committee meeting will be discussing the way ahead for the club in general this year.
With ambitions to host two tournaments this year and to have a tour of our own in Cornwall this summer, the club is always looking for contacts and community opportunities that help all concerned.
The Great North Swim later in the year is still looking for a charity to channel our efforts towards.
