A PAIR of brand new fell races are to be staged later this month as part of the Celebrating Cromford weekend.

The Cromford Canter and Killer Fell Races are taking place from 11am on Saturday, June 18.

The Cromford Canter takes place over the distance of a mile and is for youngsters up to the age of eight, while the Killer is for competitors aged nine and over and is staged over a distance of 3.5 miles.

Starting and finishing in North Street, the runners will ascend onto the fields below Black Rocks. The shorter Canter race will go along the fields to Intake Lane and return via Alison House.

The more challenging Killer race will go straight up to the High Peak Trail and then back down via Intake Lane.

Prizes, including beer, and refreshments will be available.

Organisers are urging those planning on coming to Cromford for the weekend’s festivities to fit in a run too, kickstarting their programme of getting in shape for the summer.

Entries are £2/£3 on the day. For more details, you can contact Tony Walker on 823653 or Ray Foley on 825255.
