A PACKED clubhouse at Matlock Golf Club enjoyed an evening’s entertainment to mark the presentation of almost £6,000 to charity as a bumper year of fundraising was rounded off.
The event included a race night, the Christmas Draw and the presentation of a cheque for £5,848.10 to the Captain and Lady Captain’s chosen charity for 2011, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, before the evening was rounded off with a Pie and Pea supper.
The impressive total was achieved by holding various golf events, raffles, personal donations and via the captain’s bunker on the 18th where players were expected to pay a penalty if their ball landed in this particular hazard.
Don Sharpe and hearing dog Mitchell attended the event and accepted the cheque on behalf of the charity.
In thanks, Don Sharpe explained how the money would be used in training a new puppy.
Hopefully, this could be used in providing a dog to a child with pronounced hearing difficulties.
