Darley Dale’s Tim Gould won a silver medal in the over 50 category while representing Team GB in the UCI World Masters Mountain Bike Championships held at Vallnord in Andorra.

On a very mountainous course at high altitude, Tim was held up by another rider having a first lap puncture but fought his way through the field for second place and the silver, not quite being able to catch gold medallist Javier Salamero of Spain.

In a successful international week for local riders Mel Slaney took the gold medal in the World Transplant Games 5km time trial and a silver medal in the Road Race event.

Matlock Cycling Club’s time trial season is drawing to a close and in the final five mile time trial at Ashford, Adam Kenway (Sportgrub Kuota) set a blistering time of 10 minutes and 39 seconds to take victory from Neil Armitage and Tim Hall tying in second place with 11-28.

Fastest woman rider was Jo Barnett.

The last Short Hilly time trail saw Matlock CC’s Kevin White first with Matt Boulton second and in third Elisa McDonagh.
