A SECOND taster session for those interested in trying their hand at orienteering is to be staged in Matlock’s Hall Leys Park on June 15.
The event forms part of the Hall Leys 100th anniversary celebrations and is also encouraging people to come along to a recently-formed orienteering club that meets on Wednesday evenings at Matlock Town FC’s clubhouse.
Age is no limit for those wishing to take part as the exercises and specially-designed course will suit young and old.
British Orienteering participation manager, Steve Vernon, said: “The event is aimed at beginners and newcomers to come and try orienteering for the first time.
“No experience is necessary and the event especially welcomes families.
“There are also courses for those with some experience.
“The event is being organised by Derwent Valley Orienteers, who have set up the new hub club – Matlock Community Orienteering Club – with the help of Sport England’s Community Investment Fund.”
The event runs from 4pm-7.30pm and more information about the session, and the new club, are available at www.dvo.org.uk or by calling Viv McDonald on 01629 734307.
