In-form Dobney steers new signing to vital win

A RE-MATCH between the two Edgefold teams contesting first and second place in the Darley Dale and District League Ashford Arms Premier Division again ended in a thrilling climax.

It followed on from the recent Captains Cup battle that narrowly went the way of the No 1 team.

Sean Dobney continued his sublime break-building form in the opener with a run of 50, putting the leaders into the ascendancy.

His efforts earned him the the T & M Motors player of the week title .

Duncan Harwood edged the No 1 team ahead 61-42, but a battling Rob Dicken success levelled the score again.

It was left to Dobney and new signing Mark Gibson to complete the comeback in the deciding doubles leg for a 3-2 verdict.

Belper Strutt Club moved level with Edgefold No 2 on points in second place after a 5-0 whitewash of Bolehill No 2.

Paul Jarrett and Mark Newby won each of their singles and doubles frames.

Matlock Golf Club just had the better of Crich Comrades, winning 3-2.

Graham Jones’ black-ball win proved decisive after Ade Smith had kept the visitors in the hunt in the third frame with a win.

Bolehill No 1 enjoyed their first win for a while, 3-2 at Matlock Club.

The highlight of the success was Ian Birks’ superb 47 break in the deciding doubles leg.
