Jesters MMA club in Matlock hosted an open British light contact competition at the weekend with clubs from across the country travelling to support the local kickboxing event.
In total, 11 clubs brought competitors to the Jesters MMA base, at the back of John Hadfield House, on Dale Road, Matlock, making it a busy day with over 40 bouts taking place, featuring both children and adults, showing real talent and technical ability.
Club coach Mark Ball said: “The home team did the club proud, showing yet again that we are one of the top clubs in the country for competitive light contact kickboxing. The Jesters team entered 14 fighters, ranging from raw novice to experienced competitors, and walked away with 12 winners’ trophies and two doing exceptionally well with runners up trophies.
“Most importantly of all was the amazing atmosphere of all the clubs who attended the event, showing good sportsmanship and respect, making the day enjoyable for all. “Many thanks to all who took part, the many referees and judges that helped the day run smoothly but most of all to the behind-the-scenes helpers who worked tirelessly to make the day a huge success.”
