It’s been another good week at Carsington Fishery despite the colder conditions and breezy days.

Many regular anglers have been reporting catches of 12 fish and over, despite the overall rod average being 4.64.

On Saturday, the venue hosted the Trout Master Fish-off for those customers who had submitted their Trout Master cards throughout the 2011 season.

Four anglers fished the competition and all had a successful day, catching their first six fish within three and a half hours of the start of the match. All continued fishing on catch and release until 4pm to enjoy the rest of the day.

Jodi Younger brought home the heaviest bag of 12lb 13oz and took the first position, which entitles her to go through to the final at Grafham in May.

The rod average was 4.64 with 260 fish caught by 56 anglers. The heaviest rainbow was 3lbs 8oz caught by J Matthews and Ian Ritchie. The heaviest brown was 4lbs, caught by T Gilchrist in Fishtail creek.

Most of the fish were taken in the shallows near the bank. Upperfields Bay, Fish Tail creek, Millfields. Tower bank also fished well of the weekend.
