CHARITABLE young swimmers from S. Anselm’s School at Bakewell have succeeded in making a major fundraising splash.

The Pre-Prep and Nursery Swimathon, which was held just before half-term, has raised a whopping £3,219.

This is thanks to the considerable efforts of a group of 55 children, aged between three and seven, who got in the pool at the school and did their bit for a good cause.

The children were sponsored by friends and family to swim in aid of the School Foundation.

They also helped to raise funds for the Prep School Adventure Playground Fund.

The School Foundation ensures that S. Anselm’s can offer a full Bursary to at least one child from the local area each year and raising funds on this scale for it has provided a considerable boost to the school.

Lisa Donnelly is head of S. Anselm’s Pre Prep department.

She said: “The event was a huge success.

“We are tremendously lucky to have such fantastic swimming facilities here at school with a lovely indoor pool.

“So all the children were able to take part and families came to watch.”

She added: “Well done everyone, a great result!”

S. Anselm’s Preparatory School is a day and full boarding school for boys and girls, taking pupils from nursery age to 13.
