MAC hardy competitors take on The Bonsall Run

Not even overnight rain could dampen the spirits of those who ventured out either to compete or watch the Bonsall Run.

The race, which took place as part of Wakes Week, also doubled up as a MAC Junior GP with two laps for the U16s and seniors and one lap for the U12s.

It was a bit slippery in places on the tops following rain all day Sunday and Monday evening, but it did clear for the race to the relief of everyone.

Results - Boys U12 1 lap - 1st Alex Curry 13.44, Oliver Blunt 13.57, Charlie Ross 14.04, Jacob Jones 14.05, Will Croft 14.06, Logan Fairey 14.38, Thomas Walton 20.56, Zac Clough 21.45, Josh Clough 21.45.

Girls U12 1 lap - 1st Sophie Hopkinson 14.14, Caitlin McCloy 14.24, Freya Lester 14.38, Olivia Allen 15.02, Marlene Mettam 18.47, Jasmine Blunt 21.23, Juno Mettam 21.35.

Boys U16 2 laps - 1st Oliver Lloyd 28.16, James Briggs 32.23, Josh Brooks 33.13, Bertie Elphick 35.55.

Girls U16 2 laps - 1st Amelia Corke 33.00, Michaela Dick 33.18, Mae Berrisford 42.55 and Eva Curry 16.40 (1 lap)

The winner overall (2 laps) was Harry Holmes 22.31. 1st MAC home was Ricky Wood 3rd place in 25.38, James Fox 5th 27.32, Oliver Brocklehurst 27.57, Peter Wilmot 28.09, Simon Croft 28.30, Mark Pollak 28.37, Andy Mellor 29.02, Jack Cummins 30.04, John Birch 30.12, Andrew Cochrane and David Greatorex 30.40, Nicky Dick 34.49, Jan Forrester 36.29, Molly Gorman 38.00, Emma Phillips 42.00. Kathryn Berrisford and Shelley Fairey ran round with their kids and, unfortunately, Mick Kuszynski and David Clough times not recorded, but enjoyed the run.

Elsewhere it was a lovely evening on Thursday for the Bluebell 2 Fell Race (6.5k/136m) organised by David Denton.

A total of 85 runners took part and the winner was Harry Holmes 23.14, MACs Billy Cartwright was 2nd in 24.24. James Fix 28.38, Dan Maskrey 30.54, David Greatorex 31.39, Andy Hodkin 32.28, Jan Forrester 1st LV60 38.01, Oliver Brocklehurst 38.19 (nursing a fractured wrist after a fall early on in the race) and Les Thurston 41.56. 1st lady was Lilly Brickman of Belper Harriers in 33.04.
