Someone once asked Andy Middleton what his ambition for Rowsley Scorpions(2) was. After thinking for a moment he replied “the first division championship.” To this end he recently signed on Shaun Marples to add to his already formidable squad. Shaun made his debut against the Divisional leaders and champions Rowsley 08 and despite taking 2 matches himself was unable to prevent his side crumbling to a 8 - 2 defeat. Mike Bradbury and John Davies were incapable of recording a victory between them and with Sam Perry in such imperious form the result was never in doubt.

It would not be an exaggeration to say that Whitworth 1st have taken to their recent change of venue like a duck to water and are now showing the form everyone knows they are capable of.

This week they beat Hopes Fulfilled 8 - 2 which was a bit hard on the Hopes side as Mike Douglas put in a terrific performance beating Mick Padley (2) and Andy White (2) before going down in four to the unbeaten Geoff Gill.

If you want to know the sort of stuff Dean Clayton is made of then you only have to look at his efforts this week against lowly Cromford New Boys.

Helping his side to a 9 - 1 win he was unbeaten but his 5 game victory over Phil Rastrick 8/11,11/8,8/11,11/7,17/15 was some victory for the determined left hander.

The only other match in this division was an 8 - 2 victory for Cromford Spireites over bottom side Detonators. Tim Denby and Jake Meikle were both unbeaten with Detonators only success coming from Eddie Gregory who won against Jack Holmes in straight games.

Brian Croasdale has challenged his side to show more determination in the coming weeks. After a promising start they have slumped in recent weeks and now lie in sixth place.

The match this week was typical as they again went down this time 9 - 1 to the leaders LiverPooles.

Steve Howard(3) kept his composure to steer Crich St Mary’s to a jittery but welcome 7 - 3 away win against Balls of Fury. Stephen Cooke (2) played well for the Balls of Fury but was no match to Steve who won 11/6,10/12,11/3,11/7. Crich have now progressed to third place in the league which is a vast improvement on their form of last season.

David Molyneux(3) had recorded another maximum for his side Rapid Fire who beat the understrength Pommy side 7 - 3. No doubt about it this lad is going places and after winning 16/18 of his matches so far this season he is making some of the other sides sit up and take notice.

In Division 3 Whitworth Rifles C sit proudly at the top of the table and are yet to loose a single game winning all the matches played by the maximum margin 5 - 0. This week they disposed of the The Degenerates with both Bradley Vallance and Max Smith doing the damage.

Both Scared Hitless and Whitworth Cabers are sitting on the same number of points in second and third place although the Hitless duo have two matches in hand and are probably the favourites to be the runners up.
