MEMBERS of the Darley Bridge-based Derwent Bowmen Archery Club continue to impress at events held across the UK.

The latest to turn in a sterling performance is rising star Marsie Henderson-Hirst, 14, who shoots a compound style bow.

The pupil at Lady Manners School in Bakewell was recently selected to shoot for England Juniors against Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The match took place at The Lilleshall National Sports Centre near Newport in fine weather last weekend.

Marsie excelled and put in a score of 1392, only a few points short of the national record for her age group.

As the England team beat the other teams to the title, it was clear that, as the highest scorer for the home country, she had certainly played her part in obtaining first place.

A spokesman for Derwent Bowmen said: “It will not be long before Marsie is representing her country once again and we would like to wish her and the rest of the Junior Team the very best of luck.”
