Matlock Athletic Club’s Black Rocks Fell Race (9k/250m) attracted a record turnout of 178 runners to the start line at Cromford Meadows.
After a breakneck start the runners streamed along the canal towpath to tackle the three steep climbs taking them to the Trig. Point high above Black Rocks. The helter skelter descent back down the High Peak trail was slightly compromised by some runners being briefly held up by the canal swing bridge being opened.
However those at the sharp end had avoided any such issue and raced back to the finish to claim the spoils.
