Mud-happy Matlock Cycling Club riders were out in force over the weekend in Round 8 of the Notts Derbyshire Cyclo-cross League at Markeaton Park.
The Derby venue saw members from Matlock CC and other club riders from across the region test themselves against the course and the weather in tricky conditions.
In the U9 Girls Isla Woolf continued her fine season with third place. Alice Lovatt came sixth with Maisie Robinson in ninth spot.
In the boys race Ben Robinson was an excellent ninth ahead of Edward Lovatt in 12th and Jamie Brough 13th. Isaac Falconer-White took 20th just ahead of club mate Freddie Farr in 21st.
In the U12s, Grace Longden continued her superb season with another top spot. Eleanor Gordon was a super 10th spot with Libby Jackson 11th and Gracie Day 13th.
In the boys race Ben Mellor was 12th just ahead of Arthur Limb in 14th. Sam Sargeant was 18th with George Parker 27th. Tom Woolf was 31st with Gabriel Falconer-White 35th. Evan Williams was 37th with Danny Barr 40th.
Next up were the U14s, Harriet Limb dominated yet again to take top spot with team mates Annabel Parker fourth and Annabel Shunburne sixth.
In the boys Will Longden impressed in fourth place with Lewis Holmes in a superb ninth spot. Joshua Williams rode well for 20th ahead of Finley Hill in 22nd and Sam Gould in 24th.
In the U16 Boys Matt Nicholson was 16th ahead of Rafael Abrahams in 17th.
In the V40, Mike Brain was an excellent ninth spot.
In the V45, Mike Ingram was a superb sixth with Andrew Woolf 26th.
In the V50, Chris Green was an excellent third place with Martin Holmes 21st.
In the V60, Chris Watts was a super third with Stuart Gascoyne eighth, Clive Bednall ninth and Tim Kniveton 10th.
In the final race of the day Alex Raynard finished on the podium for the second week in third place in the Junior Men’s race.
In the Senior Men, Andy Vaughan was a superb fourth spot with Chris Bottomley 12th, Will Havercroft 18th and Rob Williams 29th. Cheryl Vaughan took an excellent second place to continue her superb season. In the V40F Julie Parker pushed hard for ninth spot and Louise Glysen was 13th.
In the V50F, Hilary Bloor was a superb second spot.
The next round is Saturday 30th December at Bakewell Showground hosted by Matlock CC and has historically been one of the muddiest courses of the season.
