The first round of the British Cycling National Trophy cyclocross was held at the Moorways Centre Derby on Sunday.
Yorben Van Tichelt (Marlux-Napoleon Games) and Hannah Payton (Kinesis UK) took the elite races with a number of Matlock riders making their debuts at national level.
In the veteran categories Chris Green (Matlock CC) was 14th with Julian Gould (Zepnat RT) 27th and Chris Watts 42nd.
Riding in the senior elite events for the first time, Matlock’s Cheryl Vaughan was 32nd while Andy Vaughan was 50th in the men’s race. Sarah Lomas (Nutcracker Racing) was 21st.
In the U14s all the Matlock riders were making their first appearances at this level.
Annabel Parker was 10th girl whilst in the boys Matt Nicholson was 48th Sam Gould 49th and Will Longden 52nd.
In the U16s girls race Sarah Briggs finished 17th.
Sunday also saw the Crich Memorial Hillclimb, organised by South Pennine RC.
Local rider Adam Kenway (Metaltek Kuota) took the victory with a course record as part of his build-up towards the National Hillclimb Championship, which is to be held on Bank Road, Matlock on Sunday, 30th October and hosted by Matlock CC.
A number of Matlock youngsters took part in the Crich hillclimb, which was held on the closed road up to the monument, and all proceeds raised are to go to the Sherwood Foresters Regimental charity.
Prizes on the day were presented by the Regimental secretary.
This Saturday sees the fifth round of the SRAM Notts and Derbys Cyclocross league at Bingham.
