Members of Matlock Athletics Club turned out in force at the Peat Pit Woods at Alderwasley, with 31 juniors and nine seniors competing.
On what was ideal fell race conditions, there were still some muddy parts around the course and a handful of runners came a cropper taking falls.
Matlock’s Millie Green went in the U10s 2k race while Jasmine Blunt and Robbie Davenport clearly enjoyed the out and back course.
Next up the U12s, who tackled one lap of the course (2.34k), was won by Oliver Blunt in 9.28 and for the girls Freya Lester was first in 10.30as Matlock dominated 19 of the first 20 positions.
Alex Currie, Harriet Limb, Jacob Rifkin, Sam Sargeant, William Croft, Sophie Hopkinson, Fergus Turner, Jacob Jones, Jessica Lindridge, Charlie Ross, Caitlin McCloy, Matthew Foreman, Rhys Lessiter, Lucy Kuszynski, Isabelle Lester, Olivia Allen, Mae Berrisford, Francesca Turner, Luke Berrisford, Sam Green and Megan Thompson finishing in the top 20.
On the 2 lap course (4.568k), the U16s and seniors sped away with Paul Sorrell of Ripley RC taking the win in 17.21 hotly pursued by Sam Thompson of MAC in 18.27. Lizzie Webster was first lady in 20.42.
Charlie Unsworth, Simon Croft, Scott Thompson, Bob Foreman, Simon Brister, Eddie Unsworth, Antony Lester, Ozzy Unsworth, Jason Turner, Vicki Green and Cindi Blunt also ran.
Wednesday evening saw the Tigers Todger Fell Race (9.6k/259m) starting from the Tigers RUFC at Dore and organised by Totley RC and part of the Totley FR series of races. The race was won by Matthew Elkington of Dark Park FR in 31.50. First lady was Despina Berdeni of Totley AC in 39.56. For MAC Bradley Stone 36.36, Bob Foreman 41.07, Mick Moorhouse 44.11, Mark Jackson 49.46 and Les Thurston 50.09. This was also good enough for 15th place from 35 in the team event with Bradley, Bob and Mick scoring.
Elsewhere, there were superb conditions for running at Helen’s Trust Chatsworth 10k where Billy Cartwright sped home in a shade over 37 minutes to take third place with Andy Mellor knocking over three minutes off his 2016 time to finish 26th in 42:30.
Hayley Gill continues to cash in finishing first FV40 and second lady overall - an impressive 40th place out of well over 1,000 entrants - in 43:38. John Brennan, David Davidson and Molly Gorman all went under the hour-mark.
