Matlock Baileans 4ths secured automatic promotion as a hat-trick from Julia Bould helped them to a 5-1 win over Findern.
Matlock had first push back and, within the first five minutes, seemed to have control of the game with a fine individual performance from Julia Bould whose quick reaction saw the ball scooped out from underneath a Findern midfield player and slotted past the Findern keeper to take the lead.
The second came shortly afterwards when Bould linked up with Janice Bush and, after some great one-two passing, Bush put the ball in the corner of the goal.
The Matlock defence were rarely put under pressure but, when called upon, Amanda Ormond and Sarah Newbury made vital tackles to keep the Findern Forwards at bay. The third goal was textbook stuff with a superb cross from the right across the circle scooped into the back of the net by Laura Wildgoose.
The fourth was scored after a fumble in the circle by Bould to put Matlock comfortably in the lead at half-time.
The second half was a much more even game and Bould soon had her hat-trick after she received a great ball from Tasmin Boam. Boam’s tireless work in midfield was outstanding and her debut for the fourth team earned her man of the match. Despite clawing a single goal back, Findern never looked a threat and Matlock secured the three points and automatic promotion.
This was a superb game and many thanks go to umpire Laura Loeber, who kept the game flowing nicely.
