A NUMBER of students from Wirksworth’s Anthony Gell School attended a presentation evening recently held by the Derbyshire Schools Hockey Association to recognise all the players who have represented the county this year.
A total of ten students from the school have played for their county this school year with four of them receiving special honours.
Niamh Vallack, Tom Higton and Hollie Smedley all gained most improved players honours while Nina Smedley was recognised as players’ player.
The other players representing their county are Miles Curtis, Nicola Hartley, Beth Harwood, Miranda Marshall, Rebecca Knowles and Jonathan Hartley.
Hollie Smedley was also a valuable member of the under 17s Derbyshire squad that won the Midland tournament to become Midland Champions.
Niamh Vallack, Tom Higton, Hollie Smedley, Nina Smedley. Nicola Hartley have all been selected for the Junior Regional Development Centres.
