Sunday morning saw the start of the 26th Clowne Half Marathon with Matlock Athletic Club members up bright and early to tackle the course.

Fortunately, the rain had stopped, giving way to weather conditions which were bright, quite cool but made chilly by the strong wind which runners had to contend with.

Matlock Athletic Club had a reasonably good day considering the windy conditions, with Christine Howard winning the 1st Lady Vet Over 35s and 3rd Lady Home in 1:30:08.

Jan Forrester came home as 2nd Lady Vet O/55 in 1:54.25 and male members James Thorneycroft, (1:33:20) Richard W. Bradbury, (1:26:20) and Alan Pickering (1:24:57) won the Clowne Road Runners Club Half Marathon Veteran Team Trophy and Shield (a first for the club), with Alan Pickering collecting a second place medal in the Derbyshire County Championships associated with this race.

Just a week before, Jan Forrester took part in the Matthew Walker Christmas Pudding 10K Race at Shipley Park and came home in 48m 27s, winning the Lady Veteran 55 Class, along with a prize of a Christmas hamper.

Brian Howlett, also of Matlock AC came home in 61m.37s, second in the MaleVeteran 70.

All 700 runners received a Matthew Walker Christmas Pudding for their efforts.
