Middleton and Wirksworth sent 10 wrestlers to the The Aspull International competition in Wigan and went on to record a season’s best.
The event featured more than 160 competitors and, with club referees Tony and brother Richard Phillips taking charge of each mat, the bouts were coming thick and fast.
Thomas Phillips and Solomon Bennett had the two biggest groups of the day, with four bouts each.
Thomas made his experience show and only dropped four points all day in his final match to take gold and also picking up club wrestler of the day.
Sibling Harriette was not to be outdone and made short work of her Irish opponent pinning her to take gold. Isaac Bennett also took gold.
Shannon Harrison, who is not old enough to enter the British Championships, had something to prove to her opponent, and with great technique, super moves and greater strength she took gold.
Unfortunately brother Brandon could not match his sister and settled for a silver.
Shaun Thorpe and Lewis Brown, back from National Squad Training, both proved hard to beat as Shaun picked up gold and Lewis dropped a point in the last seconds of his thrilling final to take silver.
With Georgia Ward and Troy Hunt, back in competitive action, they too gave it their all but had to settle for silver.
Kane Hunt stepped up to coaching duties with Alex Harrison, helping M&W take a season best of five golds, four silver and one fourth place.
