DERWENT Hockey Club’s seconds rounded off their season in style recently with a 2-1 win over Ashbourne.
This victory helped to secure the team a commendable fifth position in the East Midlands League Division Two.
The 2010-2011 season has seen a new wave of youth enter the second team with players such as Max Morris and Marcus Fraser making enormous progress this season.
This saw them obtain solid positions in the team, and Fraser gaining the captain’s player of the year, for his fantastic work ethic.
Steve King gained the players’ player of the season with what teammates described as his ‘awesome dedication to the team’ both playing and umpiring across the last year.
The second team will return to action in August after the summer break, hoping again for another successful and enjoyable season of hockey.
