MIDDLETON-by-Wirksworth runner Steph Spencer was in action last week in the vet 35-39 British masters championships, held at Moorways, Derby.
The event was held over the course of two days and Steph had a disappointing time of it, by her own high standards, although this was not helped by some ill-health in the days leading up to the meeting.
She explained: “The results were well below my current form runs but I was glad to be able to compete on my home track at such a major event.
“This was my final race of the track season, which has been generally pleasing, with my best performance being at the British Masters Indoors meeting, with a bronze medal in the vet 35 over 1500m, back in March.
“There were also some solid performances for the Derby AC senior team, followed by medals at the county championships and Midland Masters.
“I am now looking forward to a few easy weeks, before some more focused training, ready for some road races and then cross country and I move up to a new age category in vets competitions in January so I’m hoping for some good performances then.”
