The 2015/16 Matlock Table Tennis League season is now well and truly underway, with the first two weeks of action completed.
The league remains very strong with several players changing clubs and new faces enjoying the cut and thrust of Matlock table tennis.
Division One in week two saw Rowsley 14 win their second consecutive match 6-4.
Rowsley beat Scorpions with Sam Perry producing some excellent table tennis both in terms of power and subtlety, and took all three games in style. Cromford CC and Whitworth produced a thrilling 5-5 draw with the highlight of the evening Dave Kelly’s beating Geoff Gill in five games.
Whitworth claimed the doubles to take their share of the points.
A rejuvenated Hopes Fulfilled produced an excellent 8-2 win over Detonators with new signings John Davies and Isobel Ashley both producing three wins each.
Hopes will without a doubt be a potent force this coming year.
After week two the top of Division One sees Whitworth on equal points with Rowsley 14 and Scorpions a point behind in third.
The game to watch in week three will be at the Whitworth Institute where Whitworth firsts entertain Scorpions.
The match starts at 7.15 pm.
Division Two has three teams sharing top spot, each with eight points.
Liverpooles have only dropped two games and are going great guns, beating Wessington in convincing style 9-1.
Still Hoping came out on top against Rapid Fire, thanks to Ian Dunsmore and Andy Sykes winning three games each.
Two man Thorntons beat Pommy A 7-3 and Strutt Strikers took maximum points against Young Guns, with Bradley Vallence and Connor Davies winning three games each.
