Teams enter the fray again

BOTH Matlock RFC and Bakewell Mannerians return to action this Saturday, refreshed and revitalised after the Christmas and New Year break.

For Matlock, the three-week break has given some of the squad’s injuries time to ease and they will travel to take on old rivals Paviors on Saturday.

The match at Cromford Meadows in September saw Matlock win 36-27. Going into Saturday’s game, Matlock sit sixth in Midlands One East while Paviors are three places and nine points ahead of them in third.

As for Mannerians 1sts, they took part in their annual under 30s v over 30s Boxing Day game and have now turned their thoughts to Saturday resumption of proceedings in the Midlands Two East (North) where they currently occupy fourth after a fine first half of the season.

This Saturday, they take on Belgrave in an away fixture that gets under way at 2.15pm. Mannerians beat Belgrave 18-15 at The Showground back in September. Belgrave are currently in sixth, six points behind their visitors on Saturday.
