Vallance is in fine form

by Brian Croasdale

You could say that all you ever need to know about Bradley Vallance was contained in his recent Division Three cup semi-final match against Matlock Marauders.

Bradley has matured as a table tennis player. A somewhat passive style has been replaced by a new found confidence in his own ability.

In this week’s match, he produced outstanding table tennis, beating David Tomlinson, ranked at number three, in three close games, a match he would probably have lost a few short weeks ago. For the record, his side beat Matlock Marauders 4-1.

In the other Division Three Semi Final, May B’s beat Whitworth Cabers by the same score 4-1 and both them and Hit & Miss will square up in the final in a few weeks time.

In the Blair Cup, both Rowsley 08 and Rowsley Scorpions had wins at the expense of Cylinder Cougars and Rapid Fire.

Just a quick word here about Rapid Fire’s young David Molyneux. He had good victories over experienced Mike Bradbury and Andrew Middleton. With only one match left, the semi-final draw will be at the next Management Meeting.

The Doncaster Grand Prix event was held with a record seven players from the Matlock League taking part.

The Veterans event provided the success we have been looking for when both Mike Bradbury and John Davies reached the later stages of the competition.
