Lorry crashes

A shop assistant was cut by flying glass, a woman looking in the window received a cut hand and the driver – who jumped clear just before the crash – sustained a cut chin and bruises.

The lorry was travelling down Steep Turnpike when the drive shaft broke and the driver lost control.

However, he managed to join Causeway Lane at speed and steer towards Crown Square, before crashing into the Co-operative store.

The lorry eventually came to rest six feet inside the store, smashing a marble counter and bacon slicer.
