Top season for Bonsall

If Bonsall Football Club were on top of the world after their success in the 1953-54 season, nobody could have predicted how great the following season would be.

They were winners of the Rowsley League championship, the Horace Holmes Cup, and Trustees Shield, and were only beaten in the final of the DFA medals by Manchester United’s ‘nursery’ team, High Lees.

Herbert Loxley – a Notts County player originally from Bonsall – was the guest of honour at the club dinner and presented the bounty of trophies to captain Henry Rickards.
