What a day!

MATLOCK Rugby Club skipper Chris Roome had a hectic 12 hours after he and his wife Heather settled down for a quiet evening watching TV.

At 8.30pm he returned home from hospital after having an operation on his leg which he had broken.

Then at 11.30pm Heather went into labour – nine days early – with their first baby and was rushed to hospital.

At 11.30pm the Sarah-Jane Elizabeth was born and weighed 6lb 11ozs.

Overwhelmed with pride at being a father, Chris decided to make some phone calls at 8.15am.

On his way back, though, Chris tripped on his crutches, fell through a window and ended up back in casualty with a lacerated finger.
