Over 1,000 in Dovedale Dash

Matlock AC round-up

The weather was excellent for the 4.75 mile Dovedale Dash on Sunday, but after overnight rain the course was very muddy.

Over 1,100 runners took part with an impressive turnout from Matlock AC including juniors vying to gain points in the Grand Prix.

The overall winner was MAC’s Ian Phillips in 27.58, taking the Izaak Walton Shield.

Other MAC positions: Billy Cartwright was ninth in 29.25 beating brother Ben into 17th place, 30.37. Karl Webster 33.48, Ed Hoon 34.16, John Webster 34.53 coming in ahead of mum, Christine Howard 37.00, two minutes up on last year and taking fourth overall lady. Michaela Dick finished in 37.17. C. Rowe 37.44, Nicky Dick 39.15, Nick Harrison 43.01, Clive Russell in his 49th appearance at the Dash took second place MV60 (he is 72) in 43.11.

Next was 11-year-old Lizzie Webster in 48.11, P Bush 50.24, Andrea Priestley 54.06. Then three more youngsters - E Unsworth 1.01.22, O Brown 1.06.29 and Bronwyn Lessiter helping dad, Andy, round the course. Next was Marianna Kuszynski who ran round with her dad, Mick.
