DISSOLUTION

Goodwood 2.40 WIN

There can’t be many better two-year-old maidens in training after three runs to their name than Sir Michael Stoute’s beautifully-bred son of New Approach out of a Kimgmambo mare, who is closely related to top-notch fillies such as Midday and Reams Of Verse. On the face of it, he has been an expensive failure, returning a beaten favourite on his last two starts after a most promising debut performance at Newbury in July. But in truth, he has done little wrong in what have been warm races. This is a golden opportunity to break his duck. He is certain to appreciate a further step-up in trip to 9f, and I think it’s significant that Stoute has both fitted a visor for the first time, to help the colt concenrate, and also resisted the temptation to find a nursery handicap for him off a generous opening mark of 80.
