Rosling is in great nick

Stanton batted first against Elton in this Orme Shield quarter final tie and lost an early wicket.

Then a caught and bowled chance was dropped and Nick Rosling went on to dominate the innings with some excellent strokes to all areas of the ground.

Jimmy Pearson also hit his way to a quickfire 57 not out.

The pick of the Elton bowlers was Paul Carson, bowling his four overs for a mere eight runs, but even his accurate spell could not stop Rosling completing a well-deserved century in the last over of the innings, finishing on 102 not out and Stanton reaching a massive 174-1.

The Elton response got off to a poor start. A direct hit from George Chandler and a good turn and throw from Nick Farmer saw the Elton response in disarray with a good catch behind from wicketkeeper Kieran Clark seeing all the young Stanton cricketers involved in Elton’s demise.

The only real resistance was provided by Sam Lightfoot, finishing with 33 as Elton finished on 78-6.
