ONLY a handful of Sheaf Sports Yorkshire & Derbyshire Cricket League games survived the cold and wet weather but there were still some significant results nonetheless.

In Division Two, Bakewell scored 142-5 with Dave Hadfield making an unbeaten 44, then bowled out Parkhead II for 130, with Roy Peach returning the fine figures of 6-23 to help them to a 12-run win.

With the match between the top two – Grindleford and Apperknowle – being cancelled, third-placed Civil Service closed the gap with a narrow two-wicket win at Ashford in the Water, who were all out for 124.

In a rain-reduced, 36-overs-a-side game, Weston Park hit an impressive 206-4 with Jatinder Kumar Gupta scoring 108 off 70 balls, including 13 fours and four sixes. Baslow batted out time to end at 114-5.

In Division Four, Chris Bradbury (43no) guided Chesterfield Barbarians II to 148-7, away at Youlgrave Lodge. The Lodge could only reply with 95, despite a battling 40 from Simon Yates. Rob Atkinson claimed 5-3 for the Barbs, including a hat-trick.

There was deja-vu for Hathersage II, who have yet to make it on to the field of play. Their game away at Ashford in the Water II was cancelled due to the conditions.
