MATLOCK 2nds suffered an eight-wicket defeat at the hands of Belper Meadows on Saturday in the A6 derby clash in Derbyshire County League Division 5N.
The home side won the toss and batted first on a green-looking track at Causeway Lane but struggled as the Belper bowlers managed to get the ball to move considerably through the air.
After 17 overs, the scoreboard read 26-4 and Belper’s Matt Jones had the impressive figures of 3-7 from his seven-over spell.
A run out then followed thanks to some smart work by Matt Wheatcroft as further pressure built.

The partnership was ended when Rob Lowe fell for 29, Pressland eventually being caught in the deep for 58.
At 103 for 7, Meadows were looking to wrap matters up but a further partnership of 48 was added as the opening bowling pair of Murfin and Jones came back into the action.
