Last weekend saw the first full competitive event to be held at the new Derby Arena velodrome with the East Midlands Youth Omnium.
The event combines all the familiar Olympic track cycling disciplines of time trial, elimination, scratch race, keirin and points.
Dales riders Ellie Smith (Fossa RT) took the overall victory with Sarah Briggs (Matlock CC) second.
Briggs was also in action in road racing at Darley Moor near Ashbourne on Saturday, taking the win in the U14 girls race.
There was a good turnout of Matlock CC youth riders at the event with Louis Swindell, Ben Mellor and Oscar Atkinson in the U10s, and Tom Woolf and Hugo and Max Atkinson in the U8s.
In the senior event which saw a large field of riders, Matlock CC had four finish inside the top 20 positions with John Johnston ending in the points in ninth after a frenetic bunch sprint finish to the race.
Johnston was also at the Mallory Park midweek circuit racing, this time taking a clear victory.
In the youth races, Sarah Briggs took second with Amelie Wayte third.
Matlock CC’s time trial series continued with the five-mile event held at Ashford.
Chris Green continued his winning form, taking victory with a time of 11 minutes and 13 seconds.
Simon Parkin (Belper BC) was second with Kevin White third.
Green then took the win in the Thursday hilly time trial with Kevin White second and Steve Strange third. Fastest lady rider was Elisa McDonagh.
Sunday saw an early morning 25-mile time trial with Chris Green again winning and setting a very fast time of 56.50 from Peak RT rider Chris Myhill in second and Kevin White in third.
This Sunday sees the Matlock CC Open ten-mile time trial event with riders from across the region taking part.
