Uncertainty caused by COVID-19 has promoted the move as organisers want to ensure as many national and international filmmakers can attend and take part in this year’s event.

Festival director Nicole Pott said: “The festival will now take place from October 23 to 25.

“With the new dates it will give us more time to get some exciting events on that we may not have been able to do this summer.”

The closing date for entries has been extended until June 17 to give as many filmmakers as possible the chance to submit their work with organisers particularly keen to welcome more local submissions from filmmakers in Derbyshire.

Since 2017 the festival has showcased shorts and features from filmmakers from across the globe.

Nicole said: “It is so exciting to see the films that have been submitted so far but we are still looking for further submissions.

“We take both shorts and features and are then able to screen them on a huge screen.”

The festival, being held once again at the New Mills Art Theatre, will also feature events, networking and industry talks.

Returning this year will also be the popular ten-hour Filmmaking Challenge which has previously seen some impressive results.

A jury made up of industry experts including film reviewers, producers and writers will have the difficult job of selecting the award winners in the various categories that will be announced at the prestigious red-carpet awards gala on the final night of the festival.
