Eight-piece Danish band Habadekuk are among the line-up for the bank holiday weekend event which runs from May 27 to 29.

The festival, entitled 3 Days in May, will be opened by legendary US star Eric Bibb. One of the leading bluesmen of his generation, Bibb’s career has spanned five decades and during that time he has released 36 albums include his latest long-player Lead Belly’s Gold.

Saturday night will see guitarist and singer/songwriter Luka Bloom take to the Opera House stage. The younger brother of Christy Moore, who sold out the main house in October 2015, Bloom has produced 20 albums since the 1970s. The support for Luka will be 20-year-old Derby rock-chick HARRIET!

To close 3 Days in May and to get you up dancing is Habadekuk, one of Denmark’s leading folk bands. Powerful horns, toe-tapping fiddle and contagious rhythms characterise the band’s sound with a vibrant mix of folk, salsa and big band jazz expected to go on the setlist. Joining Habadekuk will be Buxton’s own eight-piece country and western outfit Jori and the Bandoleros, playing covers from Willie Nelson to Waylon Jennings.

Event organisers at Buxton Opera House expect that 3 Days in May will encourage tourists and maybe even the sunshine to stay in town for the weekend.

Tickets for 3 Days in May are priced at: £16 Habadekuk, £29.50 Eric Bibb, £16.50 Luka Bloom. Book for two concerts get 10% off your total booking, book for three concerts get 20% off. Call 0128 72190 or visit www.buxtonoperahouse.org.uk
