Exhibition for Peak District Artisans
Peak District Artisans' annual Great Dome Art Fair will take place in Buxton's Devonshire Dome on July 16 and 17.
This award-winning exhibition - part of Buxton’s Festival Fringe - showcases the wide range of talent within the group, including artists, ceramicists, furniture makers, designer makers and artisans.
As well as browsing and buying, visitors are invited to meet the members, a number of whom will be delivering a range of demonstrations and talks, giving insightful examples whilst focusing on their individual styles.
The exhibition runs from 10am – 4.30pm on both days and admission is free.
As well as the groups’ collective events, some members will also take part in other regional events; Open up Sheffield; Great Sheffield Art Show; Art in the Gardens; Cheshire Open Studios; Great Peak District Fair; Harley Christmas Arts and Food Market; Artist and Designer Fairs; and Artisan Markets in Leek, Macclesfield and Wilmslow.
PDA was created as Peak District Products 25 years ago as a way of “promoting the wares of producers based in the Peak District with the hope that the label would come to mean the highest standards of excellence throughout the range of home-grown products”.
A few of the original members are still with PDA after its name change and the membership continues to grow with the focus more now on the arts, but it is still unstinting in the high quality of goods produced. From its beginnings the group has provided the best of a wide variety of products and today PDA’s members create a range of art from watercolours to wrought iron, felt to furniture.
