New ladies’ choir to start

The Major Oak Popchoir is a new, adult choir exclusively for ladies, singing classic chart hits from the past five decades.

There are no auditions, you do not have to read music and the emphasis is purely on enjoyment and sharing a love of singing.

Based in Edwinstowe, the Major Oak Popchoir is directed by Pauline Daglish, who has worked with a wide range of musical groups in her career.

Pauline said: “I know a lot of women who, regardless of experience, enjoy singing along to their favourite songs either at home or in the car. I wanted to provide somewhere where they could come together and sing the kind of music they love.

“Singing has the incredible ability to lift your spirits and it has actually been proven that singing in a choir is good for your well-being as it can provide a welcome release from the stresses and strains of everyday life.

“I realise that not everyone wants to be in the limelight, so I specifically arrange the songs with this in mind so that we all get to sing the song together. However, occasionally we may sing songs which require a solo singer, so the opportunity is there if you want it.

“The main aim of the Major Oak Pop Choir is to have a great time singing brilliant songs. There’s also a good chance you will meet and make many new friends. In fact I can’t think of any reason not to join!”
