The final screening of the season at Tansley Film will be American Hustle (15), in Tansley Village Hall on Tuesday, May 6.
American Hustle won the Golden Globe best comedy film and BAFTAs for best original screenplay, best supporting actress (Jennifer Lawrence) and best hair/make up.
The film is a black comedy loosely based on a true story from the 1970s involving the FBI and a fake sheikh, and it is directed by David O. Russell.
There are four main characters; all ridiculous and somewhat preposterous, but they take themselves so seriously. The brilliant con man Irving Rosenfield (Christian Bale) is married to Rosalyn played by Jennifer Lawrence, but he is madly in love with his partner; Sydney (Amy Adams). Both Irv and Sydney are forced to work for FBI agent Richie, played by Bradley Cooper, who also falls in love with Sydney. They are all pushed into a world of power brokers and the mafia. Screening of the film starts at 7.30pm in Tansley Village Hall.
