New venue for film society

Darley Dale Film Society is moving to a new venue and is now based at the Methodist Hall, Dale Road, Darley Dale.

The first film to be screened there, at 7.45 p.m. on Thursday, September 13, will be The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.

A truly British comedy with performances from a galaxy of British stars, it tells the story of a group of retirees who decide to “outsource” their retirement to less expensive and seemingly exotic India.

A spokesman said: “The society is looking forward to screening this season’s programme of films in its new setting. The Methodist Hall is an excellent, comfortable, welcoming venue and the team running it has provided every assistance to make the transition a smooth one.”

Full annual membership costs £25, which gives you admission to all 13 films. Alternatively, guest tickets are available for £4 per film. All films are screened at 7.45 p.m. Refreshments are served from 7pm. Please contact Ed and Jill Runham (01629 732898) or Chris and Jennie Strawford (01629 735883) for more information.
