There will be guest introductions to selected films and a special directors question and answer session at Derby arts centre Quad in May.
Total Film journalist Simon Kinnear will introduce Meek’s Cutoff on Thursday, May 12, at 8.45pm. Then cult film historian Darrell Buxton will introduce The Silent House on Friday, May 6, at 8.45pm. The film is set in a broken down cottage off the beaten track, which Laura and her father plan to restore. They spend the night at the cottage, aiming on starting work the following morning, but then Laura discovers the true secret behind the house and prays to leave alive.
Quad is also delighted to welcome director Christine Molloy for a directors Q&A following a screening of her film Civic Life on Tuesday, May 10, from 6.30pm. Christine Molloy and Joe Lawlor, directors of the critically acclaimed Helen, have been working since 2003 on a unique and richly cinematic series of short films made in negotiation with local residents and community groups.
