Internationally renowned Phoenix Dance Theatre’s 30th birthday celebrations will include a performance of new show Reflected at Buxton Opera House on Tuesday, March 29, at 7.30pm.
Reflected features two new dance works; Richard Wherlock’s sensual and vibrant Switch, and Melt, which offers an innovative blend of aerial dance and contemporary choreography. Also on the programme is Philip Taylor’s What It Is, a sultry, playful tale set to a mesmerising Amy Winehouse soundtrack. Phoenix will complete their line-up with Pave Up Paradise by Ben Duke and Raquel Meseguer, a tongue-in-cheek retelling of the story of Adam and Eve.
Contemporary dance company Phoenix Dance Theatre are visiting Buxton for the first time under artistic director Sharon Watson, who has revitalised Phoenix since arriving at the company in 2009. Phoenix is offering what it does best – compelling, entertaining and diversely mixed programmes while reintroducing classic pieces from Phoenix’s rich history.
