Rockin’ good night is in store

An inspiring and unique international film tour called the Reel Rock Film Tour is coming to the Grand Pavilion in Matlock Bath on Friday, October 10, from 7.30pm.

A Reel Rock evening features the best new adventure and rocksports films from some of today’s most talented adventure film makers.

The screenings are a fun and social night that is made even better with lots of prizes and giveaways for the audience.

This year’s Reel Rock Tour showcases the feature length documentary Valley Uprising, which will treat UK audiences to a rare trip back in time to experience 60 years of climbing history, epic rivalry, adventure and rebellion.

Vividly brought to life on the big screen through digitally animated-archival photography, spectacular movie footage from today and the past, as well as interviews with climbing legends, Valley Uprising tells the story of the bold men and women that broke with convention and redefined the limits of human possibility in California’s Yosemite National Park.

n Welsh tenor Jeffrey Lloyd-Roberts is returning soon as a soloist for the new season at the Royal Opera House in London.

But before that, he will be guest artiste at Bux Fizz, the concert of classics and pop featuring the Kinder Children’s Choirs, which is being held this weekend.

Bux Fizz will be taking place for one night only, on Saturday October 11, at St John’s Church in Buxton, starting 7.30pm.

Jeffrey Lloyd-Roberts will be singing popular opera arias E Luce van Le Stelle from Tosca and The Flower Song from Carmen, plus songs from the shows and not to mention his own Welsh folk favourites, drawing on the traditional music of his homeland.

The choirs will perform much of their new repertoire.

As a finale, they will then team up with Jeffrey Lloyd-Roberts in numbers written by Ivor Novello and the new Military Wives number In My Dreams.

Tickets to see the concert are £12 for adults, £10 concessions and £5 children.

They are available at Brooke Taylors in The Quadrant, Buxton or by phoning 01663 743041.
