Society’s work to go on display

The Matlock Artists Society’s annual exhibition is taking place at the big gallery, Arkwright Mill, Mill Lane, Cromford from July 5-19.

It opens daily from 10am-5pm and admission is free. Parking and disabled access are available.

The exhibition displays the art work of members of the society, who range in age from those in their 20s to those in their 80s. There are over 50 members in the group from amateur to professional level. A range of art work will be exhibited, using most media and different styles and subject matter. There will be exhibited work, unframed prints and cards for sale.

The exhibits will be judged by professional artists, and trophies awarded to the artist of the best picture in the show (The President’s Trophy), the best watercolour picture (The Seymour Trophy) and the picture voted favourite by the public (The Margaret Ramsden Trophy).

The society would like to thank Lea Gardens Coffee Shop for generously sponsoring their advertising.

The Matlock Artists Society now has full membership but those interested in joining can put their name on a waiting list.

The society meets once a month on the third Saturday at All Saints Church Hall, Smedley Street, Matlock, from 10am to 4pm for demonstrations and workshops with professional artists.
