English Youth Ballet will be performing The Nutcracker at Nottingham’s Theatre Royal on Friday and Saturday (July 25-26).
The company for this particular production features a number of young local dancers from across the region.
This will be a dazzling, colourful and appealing production featuring an impressive cast of up to 100 young dancers in an interpretation of the famous Nutcracker ballet, all set to Tchaikovsky’s memorable music.
The mysterious Godfather Drosselmeyer gives Clara a Nutcracker Doll at the family Christmas party. Through Clara’s love the wooden doll is transformed back into The Nutcracker Prince. He takes Clara through the Snow Forest to meet the Snow Queen and onto the Kingdom of Sweets.
Enjoy her journey through the battle of mice and soldiers, the crisp, glittering snowflakes into the Kingdom of the Sugar Plum Fairy, where a celebration of dances, each representing a sweet, marks her arrival.
With the principal roles danced by internationally known principal artists Emma Lister, Amy Drew, Oliver Speers and Richard Read, this production looks set to be a winner.
