Sheffield Theatres, English Touring Theatre and the Rose Theatre, Kingston are celebrating after their production of Translations was named Best Touring Production at the UK Theatre Awards.
Translations, directed by James Grieve, opened at the Crucible Theatre in February this year as part of Sheffield Theatres’ Brian Friel Season. It then went on to tour for six weeks across the country.
Daniel Evans, Artistic Director of Sheffield Theatres said: “We are thrilled that Translations has been recognised with a UK Theatre award. We were incredibly proud of this production and this accolade is a testament to the work of the wonderful cast, creative team and production team who not only created a beautiful piece of work on our main stage, but also ensured that the beauty of the show was impeccable on tour throughout the UK.”
Sheffield Theatres has embarked on a number of tours this year and currently has three shows on the road: The Full Monty, This Is My Family and Twelfth Night (the latter is its second co-production with English Touring Theatre).
In 2015, Anything Goes (produced in partnership with Stage Entertainment) will embark on a 33-week national tour and The Absence of War, a co-production with Headlong and the Rose Theatre, Kingston, will also take to the road following its run at the Crucible.
