A SIX-WEEK long Battle of the Bands competition returns to Ripley this summer.
Up to 15 selected bands will be competing for the overall title of Ripley Battle of the Bands Winner 2012 at The Out of Town Inn on Butterley Hill.
The music and events company DeafBox Promotions, behind the competition, is now appealing for local businesses to donate prizes for the winners.
Promoter Shaun Bunting said: “This year we are asking for donations to give the winner, this could be anything from cash prizes to services such as photography and recording. “All companies that donate will receive a lot of media exposure with regard to the event, plus their logo on the posters advertising it.
“We aim to give a platform for local artists to perform on, hopefully pushing them onto bigger things on the national circuit.”
Last summer over 100 people came to each heat and nearly 200 people attended the final, where overall winners Okapi triumphed. The group won a prize package including photographic sessions, rehearsal studio time and recording sessions. The first heat begins on July 25 and every Wednesday until the semi-finals on August 15 and 22 and the finals on August 29.
