A Dales artist is celebrating after generous donors backed the plea for cash to save her art studio.
Rachael Pinks faced having to close her community workspace at The Old Lock Up, Cromford, if she couldn’t raise £1,300 by the end of March.
And she says she has been overwhelmed by the generosity of people who helped her reached the target this week.
Donations have come from local residents, as well as pledges from as far afield as France and Nova Scotia.
It means her life drawing classes , children’s workshops and pop-up exhibitions can continue in the future.
“It would have been such a terrible shame if we’d had to close the studio, which we would have to have done,” she said. “I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone. It makes you realise there are lots of fantastic people out there.
“We’re given lots of stories of doom and gloom but actually it’s a great world we live in most of the time.”
Rachael is holding an exhibition at the Old Lock Up on March 23, at 6.30pm and is inviting everyone who donated or supported her to come along and celebrate.
“Lots of the people are complete strangers who I’ve never met , so it would be great for them to come and say hello.”
